Professors Justin Kirkpatrick and Soren Anderson Soren Anderson and I received a grant from Resources for the Future and the Sloan Foundation under their Evaluating IRA and IIJA Clean Energy Policies RFP for their proposal titled "The Effect of Federal Electrification Subsidies on Residential Heat Pump Adoption and Pricing: Evidence from the IRA."
Professor Leonidas Murembya and colleagues from AFRE (MSU) and the University Cheick Anta Diop (Senegal) published "Gender and agricultural value chains: evidence from the onion market in Senegal.” Journal of Agribusiness in Developing and Emerging Economies.
Undergraduate students Matteo Capodivacca and Isaac Estill will see their research paper, “How does the legalization of sports betting impact traditional gaming tax revenue?” published in the Columbia Economic Review.
Presentations
Professor Jeff Wooldridge gave the President’s Invited Address at the Scottish Economic Society Conference in Glasgow, April 13, 2026. He will give the keynote lecture at the 20th New York Camp Econometrics on April 25, 2026.
Undergraduate students Claudio Duhanxhiu and Dawson Mohr presented their research at the Midwest Economic Association meeting titled, “Tax Policy and Rental Housing Costs: The Effects of East Lansing’s 2012 Income-Based Appraisal Reform.”
Awards
Professor Steve Matusz received the AT&T Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award for his innovative use of technology in teaching Intermediate Microeconomics (EC 301).
Professor Stacy Dickert Conlin received the College of Social Science Outstanding Teacher Award which honors the best undergraduate instructors in the college and faculty are nominated by students.
Tyler Webb, a third-year economics major, won first place poster award in the History, Political Science, and Economics category for his presentation “Predicting MLB Arbitration Salaries through Multiple Regression” at the University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF). His research was under supervision by Professor Hanzhe Zhang and was supported by Provost’s Undergraduate Research Initiative.
