Divyani Jain is a senior, double majoring in Economics and Psychology. She is also the Econ Club's external outreach officer.
Why did you choose Economics as your major?
I wanted to understand markets better. I’ve always found economics to be such a unique way of looking at the world, and I was especially interested in understanding consumer behavior and how people’s choices are influenced by the economic environment around them.
What has been your favorite Economics class so far and why?
EC 360 with Professor Paul Kim. I really enjoyed learning about how markets work in practice and how things like competition, regulation, and government policies can shape the way markets function. It connected really well with why I chose economics in the first place.
What are you looking forward to this year academically?
EC 404! I’ve been waiting to take Behavioral Economics because I’m really interested in understanding the psychology behind the choices people make in economic settings. I’m taking it right now, and it’s been really exciting to finally explore that connection between economics and psychology.
Are you involved in extracurricular activities or clubs? If so, which ones?
I’m involved with the Economics Club as the External Outreach Officer, and I’m also involved in research labs in both the Psychology and Economics departments. I’m also part of both the Economics Scholars and Psychology Scholars programs.
What career(s) are you interested in?
Consulting, strategy, and data analytics.
Any fun fact about you or hobby you’d like to share?
I love roller coasters and will never say no to going on one! Following Alex’s lead, I’ve been to six amusement parks in the last three months.
