Mitchell Rodrigo Oteyza is an economics junior, and he is also the vice president of the Econ Club.
Why did you choose Economics as your major?
I’ve always been interested in understanding the “why” behind things, and economics provides a framework for answering those questions. I also value how economics connects with fields such as finance, law, and business, which align closely with my academic and career interests.
What has been your favorite Economics class so far and why?
My favorite class so far has been EC 404, Behavioral Economics. This class has allowed me to further explore the question of “why” by examining the factors that influence people’s decisions and behavior.
What are you looking forward to this year academically?
I am looking forward to taking Economics and Law (EC 425)!
Are you involved in extracurricular activities or clubs? If so, which ones?
I serve as Vice President of the Economics Club and one of the Economics representatives on the Dean’s Student Advisory Council. I am also a member of the Econ Scholars Program and Pre-Law Society.
What career(s) are you interested in?
I plan to attend law school and pursue a career in law, with particular interests in corporate and securities law!
Any fun fact about you or hobby you’d like to share?
I ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, this past summer.
