I arrived at MSU in 1991 after finishing undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware. Unbeknownst to me then, with my arrival in East Lansing, I was on the road to a fulfilling career in development economics.
The Department of Economics formed its Advisory Board in October of 2012, and we welcome our four newest members, Dr. Shashikant (Shashi) Gupta, Dr. William (Bill) Raduchel, Mark Simon and Pam Steckroat Treadway.
Award winners (first row) Andy Chou, Brianna Acker, Lauren Bretz, Brendan Prost, (second row) Benjamin Schneedeker, Kelly King, and Kyle Safran
About 400 economics majors graduate from Michigan State each year, and each year the department honors a small number of the most outstanding members of that group, publicly acknowledging their accomplishments in a reception held at the close of the spring semester.
We encourage alumni to recall and renew their Michigan State University ties by donating to the Department of Economics. These gifts not only contribute to our ability to positively impact the lives of students but also assist in the preservation of high quality education for future Spartans.
